Beat the Drum...beat the silent
Musa, nine-year-old boy, whose parents and the people in his village of Africa were killed by a mystery disease, which is a curse from the above generation, they believe. To start a new life, orphaned Musa decides to set out to find his uncle in Johannesburg. On his way to the big city, he sneaks aboard a truck driven by Nobe who desires to have a son and considers adopting him. Hanging around alone in the city, cluelessly finding his uncle, Musa runs into a street wise young girl, Letti. He shows her how to survive and earn money by his own effort instead of stealing as other ‘street kids’ do. And Letti shows Musa the bracelet given by her mother who also died of the same sickness. She explains to him that the sickness isn’t a curse, but a disease called AIDS. It is a disease which cannot be recovered by killing your loved pet. It is a disease which cannot be treated by having sex with a virgin girl. It is a disease warning the people to understanding what ‘the killer amongst them’ is. It is a disease which needs their encouragement and positive way to face it.
